Teams of Sena/Rudosky and Taylor/Dunahoe Co-Champion West Chapter Pro-Pro Championship

Edwards, Colo. – Thursday afternoon, the Colorado PGA (COPGA) held its first West Chapter points event of the 2023 season with the playing of the Masek Rocky Mountain Golf Cars West Chapter Pro-Pro Championship at the beautiful Club at Cordillera, Summit course. Cool temperatures and partly cloudy skies greeted the 44 PGA Professionals when they arrived. After a quick warm-up and a ten-minute hail storm, the afternoon shotgun was off. The Club at Cordillera was the perfect course to host the Four-Ball Stroke Play Championship, amazing views combined with the excellent course conditions, thanks to Darren Szot, PGA, Director of Golf, and his golf staff, allowed for a memorable day for golf for our Professionals.

Despite the Summit course’s tricky elevation changes and unique mountain layout, overall scores were low as eight teams scored in red figures. Among the lowest of scores, were a couple of 6-under-par 66’s shot by the teams of Micah Rudosky, PGA, of Conquistador Golf Course and Shea Sena of Dalton Ranch Golf Club and Josh Dunahoe of Steamboat Golf Club and Tom Taylor, PGA of Steamboat Golf Club. Two teams came in at a tie for second place with scores of 3-under-par 69’s and two more groups finished their rounds tied for fifth posting 5-under-par 70’s

We could not thank our partners present at the WC - Pro-Pro Championship enough for all the support they have given the Colorado PGA Section to make our championships some of the best in the country. In attendance Thursday was title partner Masek Rocky Mountain Golf Cars and owner Jason Masek, who greeted our players on the 9th tee. Also presented was Mark Nelson, PGA from Cobra Puma Golf, handing out a great outerwear piece that came in handy with the chilly afternoon temperatures. We thank our partners for their continued support of the COPGA.

Once again, we would like to thank Darren, his entire golf staff, and the staff at the Club at Cordillera for making this event so memorable. The Colorado PGA tournament schedule will resume June 19th for the fifth Corona Premier® Pro-Am Series event of the season at The Ranch Country Club, with the next West Chapter event taking place July 25th with the Stroke Play Championship at Eagle Ranch Golf Club.

Longmont, Colo . - What a difference a day makes as cloudy skies and cool temperatures greeted the players on day two of the Colorado Senior PGA Professional Championship, compared to hot and sunny temperatures during the opening round. Caine Fitzgerald, PGA Head Professional at Meadow Hills Golf Course, took a 3-shot lead into the final round after a 3-under-par 67 on day one. “The 3-under on day one was fortunate, the golf course is very difficult and is tough to make putts, Fitzgerald said.” Three back of Fitzgerald to start the day was the 2012 and 2013 senior champion, Doug Rohrbaugh, PGA Instructor at River Valley Ranch Golf Course, and four back was the 2022 and 2023 champion Matt Schalk, PGA General Manager at Colorado National Golf Club.

Centennial, Colo. - It was a beautiful day to crown a champion at Valley Country Club for the 67th Colorado PGA Professional Championship. Geoff Keffer, PGA Assistant Professional at Lakewood Country Club began the day with a two-shot lead over Tristin Goodwin, PGA Assistant Professional at Cherry Hills Country Club. Goodwin started the day red hot as he birdied four of his first six holes and added an eagle on hole 5 as he holed his wedge shot from 40 yards out. After hole 6 Goodwin had flipped a two-shot deficit into a three-shot lead. “My strategy did not change, but my mindset definitely changed a little bit, I started to feel more pressure as I was leading the golf tournament now,” Goodwin said. Bogies on holes 7 and 9, the two par threes on the front nine, and a birdie from Keffer on 7, Goodwin and Keffer made the turn to the back nine dead even at 9-under-par.
